Top Tomato is a family run business and has been for years. Its Staten Island favorite local supermarket. The Fruits and vegetables are fresh and priced right. They have a bakery section, a Deli, fresh cut meats and a full line of grocery items. They even have organic products.
Good store. Cashiers always nice. Have big selections. Produce always good. Only thing I don't care for is the fish dept REALLY smells. Way too fishy. Makes me sometimes not want to go to that end of the store but need to get other produce that is near the fish. It is very off putting to me.
Worse supermarket I’ve ever been to. There’s a manager there name Pete. He’s a real piece of s**t. He’s very disrespectful, and he stares customers down like a creep, I’m not sure what he’s trying to stare at but he’s one step away from a sexual harassment charge. He’s even rude and an ass to employees. It seems that he likes to embarrass employees in front of customers. This is an example of what a little bit of power can do to a person. I don’t go for watching someone degrade employees in front of anyone. He is completely unprofessional and is unfit to be a manager. He should not be working with anyone, he treats his employees as if they’re below him. I would never shop at this store again due to this guy making me and a few other customers I know uncomfortable. I highly recommend to anyone to not go to this store, unless you’re comfortable with being stared down. My friends and family have relocated their food shopping to another store.
Great location. The staff is very helpful. It's not a complete full service grocery store like your typical chain place, but there is a full deli, butcher etc. Good quality meat and produce. My only knock against the location is that they tend to close before their posted hours if the store is busy. It's likely due to being a local store that doesn't have the steady flow of customers like a larger chain store.
The prices are pretty cheap and they have pretty quality goods, and the staff are pretty okay. Just because it is very close and there is no 4.5 star rating, I'll give this a five star.
